Why I don't like georgie shrub...

...because of things like this.
AlterNet: Is This America?
Here is the gist. Two people went to a "presidential visit" in their town wearing anti-bush t-shirts. This was not a campaign rally, but a presidential visit. What happened to these two people? They were arrested for tresspassing! I have nothing else to say.

Innocent coincidence? I think not
AlterNet: Election 2004: The Church of Bush
This story is a good read. This guy went to some georgie shrub house parties to talk to the prez's faithful. Good discussion.

Please read this when you have a chance.
t r u t h o u t - Gagged 9/11 FBI Whistleblower Naming Names
I haven't finished it yet, its pretty long, but what I have read so far this is SCARY as hell!

Movies:
I saw Y Tu Mama Tambien tonight. Pretty good, but alot was cut for this R-rated version, I'll have to see the unrated version. oo

We watched Starsky & Hutch the other night, I thought it was funny, silly funny, but funny. Good stuff, any time you have snoop dogg getting slapped in the face by Vince Vaughn, you know the movie is pretty funny.

Also watched Outfoxed the other night too. Pretty good documentary. Pretty amateur graphics but the content was pretty good. It laid out a good case for why FoxNews is not news and ought to be outed for their underhanded ways.

Ok that is enough for tonight.

HUH? Bush gets away with anything he wants to. You really have to be kidding me if you think Bush couldn't get away with this. It's called keeping it "hush-hush"

To BE christian or not to BE christian, that really is the question here Mr. Bush. Jesus himself is rolling over in heaven as word is made a mockery like this. Religion can't be flipped on and off like a switch, you can't use it only when it fits your agenda. I am all for believing what you want to believe, however you may not use the bible for political or economic gain at some points and other points ignore it all together. The pope came to you and told you that war is not the answer, it is not the christian way, but evidently war is the american way. You allow people to be killed all the time by capital punishment, yet you KNOW the christian view on this. Yes, I'm sure most people sentenced to death are scum bags and probably deserve it, but I remind you, YOU KNOW the christian view on this. The christian view on abortion is quite clear and that is one that you follow to the T. The christian view on gay marriage is also quite clear, another one that you seem to like. Mr. Bush, your job is to lead our country, help our economy and protect us from our enemies. Our enemies are those people flying planes into our buildings, those plotting to ruin our way of life, those that want every american dead. Our enemies are NOT homosexual men and women who work and pay taxes; our enemies are NOT women who had abortions, our enemies are NOT doctors trying to save lives using stem cell research. You are NOT the pope of the USA, you are NOT the priest of the USA, you ARE the president of the United States of America. You are not in that position to strip the rights of taxing paying americans, you are not in that position to tell us what we can and can not believe. You are making a mockery of this country and of the religion in which you claim to believe in. But what do I know right. I must just be a pompus, unamerican jerk since I don't love everything about republicans and the bush administration.

Ok in order to address your first question Republican Bud:

"Do you really think that Bush could get away with a stunt like this?"

...I must address your last questions:

"DO you believe that Fox news is slanted to the right in their reporting? Do you believe ALL the rest of the major networks are even SLIGHTLY slanted to the LEFT?"

Yes I do believe fox new is not only slanted to the right, they are disgusting propaganda mouthpieces for the right wing agenda masquerading as "Fair and Balanced" news reporting. That I think is their worst discretion. Now do I believe the rest of the major networks are even slightly slanted to the left?
NO. It is true that many individual journalists might have left leaning views, but the networks as a whole do not. There is a difference, a big one between the slant of an individual journalist, or even journalists in a news organization and what fox news is doing. Fox top brass sends daily memos to ALL employees telling them HOW to slant their news of the day. And after seeing some of the memos in question and then seeing that days news I see anchors repeating the memo "highlighters" almost word for word. Now THAT Republican Bud is disingenuous!

Now having said that, do I think shrub could get away with something like this? Hell yes, I do think so, it was on a very local level, AND I have seen many examples of things that this administration and Republican representatives have gotten away with things that the so called "liberal media" skewered Clinton and other dems for not so many years ago. Forgive me since I am at work I do not have the time right now to go back and look for supporting evidence, but I assure you I do believe this to be the case. If the media truly were left leaning then I believe they would have never jumped on the boat and sailed with georgie shrub on the march to the war in Iraq, among other things. Clinton was hung out to dry for getting a blow job and then lying about it. There is no comparison!

No one died when Clinton lied! Now I'm not sure what you are trying to get at about Carvel, I assume you mean James Carville and not the fine ice cream at Carvel. But seriously, I do not know if Carville always talks about GW stealing the election of 2000 every time he is on TV, but I can tell you I have read and seen too many things to think that arguing that the 2000 election was not tampered with is something that is crazy. How can Kathleen Harris, in charge of elections for the state of Florida also be the head of Bush's election campaign for the state? HOW?! Start with that and then continue to other stories, once again when I have time I will link them here.

Now as far as the FBI report, yeah it is very scary and needs to be addressed by the media immediately.

Y Tu Mama Tambien is a mexican movie that saw some critical acclaim, its not for everyone because it has... oh no.... subtitles, but I enjoyed it.

Ok anyways that is all I can afford to write right now.

A Note from Jay:

Ok now I must get serious. While I enjoy having a conversation about politics here on my blog I do not think there is any place for hate and the type of language that was written in the last post by Republican Bud. Therefore I have removed the post and have posted the entire post minus the offensive words. I ask you Republican Bud to not post such disgusting words on my blog again.

-----------------------------------------------
From Republican Bud:

OK OK OK, I forgot. It's ol' snakehead. C-A-R-V-I-L-L-E. Sorry for the slip. Snakehead still says that Bush stole the election. Noted that you still did not address that.

Also, just because [homosexuals] and baby killers live and pay taxes in the US does not make them immune from critisism and rebuke. No [homosexual] can tell me that the lust for another of the same sex is normal and acceptable,it is not and will never be so. It is an unhealthy and perverse lifestyle to say the least.
I would ask Anonymous, since when is the Pope the Bible? So what if he said war was not the answer. Unless Bush is a catholic - which he is not - the Pope has no more authority over Bush than Chirac. The only time the New Testament addresses war is when Jesus refers to ...wars and rumors of wars..in Matt 24:6. All other references to war (in the NT) are speaking of fights betwenn good and evil or scisms in the early church. So what views exactly are being forced upon you by Bush? and what did Jesus say about capital punishment (which is what killed Jesus by the way.)

i'm done talking about just the religious aspect of this. Bud you have your opinion, I have mine. I also know it is not my place to tell you what to think just like it is not my place to tell a homosexual how they should feel or think. My original thought was that Bush hides behind the bible sometimes, but other times acts like it doesn't exist. I am surprised, b/c you seem fairly religious, and I am amazed that you are not infuriated at bush for his hypocritic ways of using religion and christianity for his political and financial gain

As far as addressing Carville: Well I thought I did, but ok, I do NOT know if he always mentions it as you claim, BUT I can say that we shouldn't just get over it, because many African Americans and others were disenfranchised by the 2000 election and that has a direct bearing on the election of 2004. That is why we are taught History in our schools, to LEARN from it.

Next: I will let anonymous's comments answer your homosexual and war comments.

Next: As far as media bias, I said that Fox is by FAR a disgusting example of media bias on the right, for which there is no mainstream equivalent on the left. While your example is a good one, I ask you from what media source in particular did this characterization of the Judicial Watch come from during the Clinton years? And furthermore does the same media source now call this group differently, AND is this a prevailing thing across multiple sources or a single source? I ask.

Next: Yes I did see jibjab.com about 2-3 weeks ago. I forgot to mention it in my blog, I think it is pretty funny, it takes jabs at both sides.

Finally:
As far as the language that was used in an earlier comment. I appreciate you respecting my wish to not use that type of language here. You say the following though:

"...I specifically use them because these are the words the activist groups use to describe themselves when they protest yet those of us who disagree are labeled offensive if we use them."

The only thing I can say to that is that I think it is a corollary to how African Americans started using the N-word between themselves. I heard from a African American leader (I apologize, I can not remember who at this time) who said that they used that word because it took the power of that word away from the slave owners and the people who hated their kind and they adopted that word as their own in a way to try to take it away from the people who hated them.
I think it is much in the same way that the homosexual activists use the words you mentioned themselves, to try to take those words away from people who hate them. But I can't speak for them. All I can say is I find it offensive, just as I find the N-word offensive, because I respect all my fellow people on this earth, no matter what form they take, or sexual orientation, or how much I may disagree with them.
